Oji Tasman - Pulp Dryer Upgrade
The Scope
The project involved a staged upgrade of the PD1 pulp dryer blowbox system, replacing ageing components and addressing longstanding mechanical issues.
The scope included engineering design, manufacture and installation of a new “eyelid” airflow design, with works planned around operational shutdown requirements and delivered across multiple stages.
Our Solution
Hutec combined engineering, manufacturing and shutdown expertise to deliver a staged blowbox upgrade for OJI Tasman’s PD1 pulp dryer. Building on trials in 2019, the project replaced ageing components with a new “eyelid” airflow design to support more consistent pulp sheet flotation and address longstanding mechanical issues.
The final installation in September 2023 completed the replacement programme, with 3,484 onsite hours delivered ahead of schedule, under budget and with no reported health and safety issues—a strong example of practical engineering backed by carefully planned execution.
