Te Mihi Geothermal Power Station Overhaul

The Scope

Hutec played a pivotal role in supporting Toshiba with the successful delivery of a major dual-unit turbine outage at Te Mihi Geothermal Power Station.

The outage was the first time a major turbine outage had been undertaken simultaneously across both Te Mihi Units 1 and 2, with turbine and generator works strategically overlapped to maximise the efficiency of the full-station outage window.

Hutec’s scope included removal of the Unit 1 generator rotor, steam path inspection and remedial works, together with complete replacement of the Unit 2 turbine steam path. The project required specialist labour, supervision and tooling to support the delivery of the works.

The Solution

Hutec provided the specialist labour, supervision and tooling required to support Toshiba throughout the complex dual-unit outage. Our team worked closely with the wider project team to coordinate the overlapping turbine and generator activities and maintain progress across both units.

The works were delivered safely, on schedule and within budget, with Hutec’s technical expertise, professionalism and focus on quality contributing to the successful completion of this significant full-station outage.
